Larry might soon have a little brother or sister
It’s nearly February which means it is time for me to start planning my veg planting for the year. On Sunday I sorted out my box of seeds in the shed, made a list of what i need, and headed to the garden centre to spend £30 on seeds. I’ve still got loads left to get, but I’ve got most of the early stuff.
I’ve planted basil, thyme and chillis so far – aubergine, leek, celeriac, celery, tomatoes, peppers, aubergine will all follow in the next week or so and the flat will be full of pots and trays from which (hopefully) seedlings will emerge.
At Christmas, i made pots of lemon curd for the hampers, and as i juiced the lemons I kept the seeds. On Monday night, I chose the dozen most likely-looking and planted them in two pots. As it is like a greenhouse in our office, I’ve taken them in and set them next to Larry on the cupboard next to my desk:
Incidentally, that’s GAW’s chair you can see. She suggested two names for the new additions but I don’t like to tempt fate and I’m not getting too attached until I see some green shoots. Plus I don’t know how many will germinate, how many names I might need. But I’m hoping that with the big guy looking after them we will soon hear the patter of tiny leaves. I will keep you posted.

I know it’s not even the same plant, but everytime you post something about Larry I think of the movie HOT FUZZ. I guess part of me is pretending you’re Simon Pegg. *sigh*
Haha! Simon pegg is a genius. i love hot fuzz and shaun of the dead
If you haven’t seen it, you need to watch Paul. If I were not already married…Simon Pegg would be my top choice.
I liked paul but it didnt have a shootout in a model village at the end
bahah…true. i’ve always wanted to lie on the ground and shoot into the air as the bad guy gets away.
