Friday Fictioneers – Second Hand
And so we approach the end of the week, and it’s time to get my FriFic all up in your grill. Or whatever the kids say nowadays. Eternal gratitude to Rochelle, supplier of prompts extraordinaires. This week‘s looks like this:
And my 100 words look like this:
The second hand shop is my favourite place to visit on a rainy day or a quiet day or a day when I want to escape from real life. Sometimes I find something that speaks to me and insists that I take it home, but mostly I just like to browse and imagine the lives of the objects for sale, and the lives of those who brought them in.
Like the gold-coloured medal with the worn white ribbon and faded inscription.
Or the necklace and locket, sepia photo still inside.
Or the wedding dress with the tag saying “Never Worn”.
