First Blog. Scary.

21 March, 2012

So, here is it is, my first blog. If you are reading this you either:  (a) stumbled randomly across it; (b) are one of the very elite number of people I have given the link to; or (c) an archivist from the future and I am now famous or dead or both. Whichever path brought you here, welcome. Please leave a comment to let me know there is someone out there. Say hi, link me to your blog, or just leave abuse. It’s all feedback.

Why blog? Mainly because my head fills up with stuff, and I have to let it out. Sometimes I blurt an email at someone who wasn’t expecting or wanting it. Sometimes i ponder and ponder and ponder until the thought gets exhausted from running through my mind and goes away. But from now on, it will end up here. I thought about blogging around Christmas, and it has taken me three months to finally start. Why the wait? Partly because I am now in a healthier place mentally than I was then and feeling more confident about writing, and partly because I now have a decent name for this blog – The Reclining Gentleman. This has various meanings, some of which may be explored in later blogs. For now, make a guess of what you think it means, write it down, don’t let me see it, and we will find out soon if you were right.

Some blogs will be long, some will be short. Some will be funny, some will be the tearfilled angst of one who just doesn’t understand how the world works or what it is for. Some will make sense, some will be written in metaphor and code that only I fully understand but will allow me to be honest without being clear. But they will all be mine.

  1. ‘If I do not empty my brain, I go mad.’ Byron said that. You paraphrased it. How cool is that? Please do not get exiled from England for dodgy sex, I like you too much Cx

    • being compared to Byron in my first blog is a decent enough start.
if i do get exlied from england, hopefully there will always be a home on the island
