A Good Mood

9 June, 2012

Something unexpected and welcome has happened in the House of TRG. I am in a good mood.

This week should have been a car crash:

  • I was fed up with all the coverage of the bloody Jubilee last week which meant I couldn’t dare turn on the radio or telly without being invaded by Royalists.
  • I was due back to work on Wednesday after a holiday which always puts me in a black mood.
  • Girl At Work was off this week, meaning I was missing the only person there I really have any time for.
  • My boss was also off, meaning I had to work flat out trying to juggle two people’s jobs, and had to work over an hour extra unpaid each day to get it all done.
  • I don’t get paid till Friday and have no money – for the 6th month in a row I have had to spend the Christmas money I put by just to get to pay day.

But despite all this, I am in a good mood. I won’t say happy as that very rarely happens. On a happiness scale of 1-10 I am on about a 6, which is very high for me, my default setting is about 3. But this week I have been able to do more than just function as the hours and days of my life pass. I socialised twice this week – something I am very bad at – and was able to hold conversations with people and yes, enjoy myself even.

I can’t claim any credit for this, I haven’t been Positive Thinking, Rising Above It, or Pulling Myself Together, it’s just that in the mental lottery of my head, this week has been more of a win than a loss. I’m not being an Eeyore when I say that it won’t last, I’m being realistic. Tomorrow (as Scarlett said) is another day. Maybe a shit one.

But for now, I am sharing my good fortune with you.

🙂

Eeyore was a pessimist, but he did it so well. Glad your week ended right side up. 🙂

    • thanks 🙂
and i’ve had a new “most hits in a day” record for two days running.
and i’m watching vids of Orbital live at Glastonbury on youtube.
      it’s all good
