Sausage Sandwich Game

10 June, 2012

The Danny Baker Show is by far the best thing on radio. I can’t promise you will like it -my friends are divided between those who “get” him and those who don’t, and he is very much for English ears – but here is a link to his show in case you have 90mins to spare:

Anyway, every week amongst the listener phone-ins and anecdotes he has a celebrity play the Sausage Sandwich Game, which always ends with the legendary question: When you have a sausage sandwich, do you have Red sauce, Brown sauce, or no sauce at all?

I can never decide what I would say, I am the world’s worst food decider (as anyone who has ever sat with me in a restaurant will tell you), but today i had a (veggie) sausage sandwich for breakfast and without thinking served it up with red sauce. So after years of listening I have finally realised, subconsciously, that i am a Red sauce man.

My question to you, if you have read this far, is What would your answer be in the famous SSG?

Red sauce, Brown sauce, or no sauce at all?

What exactly are the sauces? Like is red ketchup? I have the disadvantage of not being English. Though I’m not one to use a condiment, so I’d probably say none.

    • Yep, red sauce is tomato ketchup. i think brown sauce must be a british thing, its like a savoury ketchup with a tiny bit of spice. and it’s brown.
ive never known anyone say No sauce at all but then ive never asked anyone who isnt English before 😉
