Choon Choosday: The Sugarhill Gang – Kick It Live From 9 to 5

Apologies, I can’t find a video for this that doesn’t have terrible sound quality, but at least I found it on grooveshark. Yes yes everyone knows Rappers Delight, but this is the Sugarhill Gang at their best. It’s is my favourite old skool hip hop cut, I know every word, but it’s the slap bass, the horn section and the scratching that make it for me. I can’t resist air-scratching along from 5:00, and that’s why I’m calling this one a

  1. I am almost back into my normal routine so I shall send you the first tune that came on my ipod on my walk home from the school run in reply, enjoy..

      wow, that’s quite a blast from the past, I’d forgotten about that one 🙂

      • I just have a ridiculous amount of songs on my ipod and set the whole lot on shuffle most days so i never know what I am gonna get lol meatloaf came on next

      • i can safely say meatloaf will never feature on choon choosday!

      • never say never lol you just think about some of the songs that get used in dance tunes – who would ever have thought they would be dancing in a nightclub to the theme tune to trumpton when they were growing up yet a generation of us did lol

      • so true!! and one of the greatest dance tunes ever has the lad with his cat off the telly… “charlie says always tell your mummy when you go off somewhere”
