Busy Weekend 3

16 December, 2012

This weekend wasn’t as busy as this one or this one, but I have been finishing off a few festive tasks. It was payday on Friday so I called into Sainsburys after work to buy loads of biscuits and too much cheese ready for the festive season, went into town on Saturday to buy a couple more presents, and logged onto Amazon to order one last thing, a birthday present that needs to be with the recipient on Jan 7th.

All my wrapping is done (except the Amazon one), and I have to ice the Christmas cake this afternoon, and then I am about done. I need to make a big batch of my legendary chocolate truffles on Saturday as I can’t make them too far ahead, and I will be baking some spiced biscuits then too. These last two will be the final ingredients in the hampers which will then be full and ready for delivery:

Nine days still to go, but I can now relax with a glass of port.

  3. Those are impressive-looking gifts. Ditto what ted & cc said! 🙂

  4. Okay am putting in my order for a TRG hamper for next chrimbo – which chees did you buy I am loving the truckles my fav is the chedder and caramilised balsamic onions though I am gutted they havent got the one with silverskin onions in at my sainsburys this year

    • the jam roly poly i had for pudding today seems to have effected my ability to spell lol

    • there is cheddar, smoked cheddar, edam, stilton, danish blue, blacksticks blue, edam, St Agur, sheeps cheese, mozarella and gran padano. i still feel i havent got enough though – i want some stilton & cranberry, cambazola, brie, marmite cheddar and maybe some emmental. and i fancy some of that cheddar & balsamic onion, i will call in sainsburys tomorrow 🙂 that should then be enough for a single person living alone.
My brother lives in yorkshire so maybe i could drop your hamper off next time i visit!

      • i prefer wendsleydale with cranberry to stilton – you should have seen how much cheese used to be in my fridge before daughter moved out, all of us love cheese we just all ready like different ones I bought some cheshire for the first time in ages had forgotten how much I liked that but I also have noticed jamie oliver using a lot of feta as seasoning on his 15 minute meals and am looking forward to trying that in the new year. Where abouts is your brother?

      • good call, i need wensleydale. and cheshire to put on toast. i am a total cheesaholic!
he is a little bit south of you, near rotherham.

  5. Wow you’re organised!!
Mind you, I did my early this year rather than Xmas eve…
I’m panic this year though, my new friends are mentioning the goodie bags they got me, and I’m looking down at my one present for each one thinking shit… what a Scrooge I look! :O Bar humbug, it’s all about getting these days. lol
