Choon Choonsday: Madness – Deceives The Eye

18 December, 2012

As we approach Christmas and the world goes into consumerist overload, some will no doubt resort to theft in order to acquire all the presents they need. Some will nick a person’s bike from outside their flat and carry it down two flights of stairs on Christmas Eve (as happened to me two years ago) and some will shoplift.

I love Madness, they were my favourite group when I was growing up. Aswell as their reggae/ska roots, it’s their Englishness and sense of humour that sucks me in. They always released singles with quality b-sides, and this is an obscure but brilliant example describing the perils of shoplifting.

  1. When I lived in Chicago, my bike was ‘nicked’ from my front room, while we stood in the kitchen.

Cute Choon and very English sounding… circa what?

    Another favorite group!
