A Saturday State Of Mind

26 January, 2013

I don’t know what it is about Saturdays, but the majority of my ponderous posts appear at the weekends. It must be the fact that I have time to think. From Monday to Friday the days are a blur of early mornings, hectic working days, full evenings, late nights – all punctuated by personal emails and texts. But on Saturday and Sunday, the pace is slower and there is less haste, more time to think. Sure I usually have Stuff To Do – so much Stuff that it doesn’t all get Done – but there are still patches of time where I ponder life and its past, present and future.

Of late though I have, thanks to a combination of things, been a lot happier, more relaxed, more positive. This morning my head began reciting one of its regular sermons – the one about how my presence made no difference, how I had reached that age as a single man where any potential partners must assume I am gay, damaged, or a complete dick, and for this reason I am destined to spend the rest of my time alone.

And although I listened and could see my head’s point, even agreed with some of it, it didn’t send me into a downward spiral.

That’s progress then! If you could turn that voice off completely, it would be awesome.

  2. To put it bluntly Mr Gentleman, fuck destiny. There’s a lid for every pot. 😉

  3. I would think you would spend your Saturdays reading my posts…

  4. It is sometimes dangerous for me to get lost up in my head… I try to be careful. And then other times, I find a personal comfort that I really need and love. It varries. I think you can cross paths with someone at any time in your life, that could potentially stand by your side forever.. (Sorry, I am quite the optimist these days) Thank you for sharing!! ~ Jen

  5. That’s a good sign, yes? I had that same tape playing in my head too. Actually, I still do a lot of the time.
