I Used To Fly To Different Worlds

27 January, 2013

I am so lucky – the beautiful and talented Hasty asked me to do a poetry duet! She is such a great poet, she is honest, thoughtful, deep, romantic, and seems to find these perfect choices of phrases and words. If poetry is like a tin of Quality Street, i supply the shitty toffee stick ones in amongst the green triangles and the purple hazel caramels of hasty’s work. In the poetic box of celebrations, i am the milky way compared to the twix and the galaxy. Go and visit her site if you don’t believe me. Anyway, here is our duet:

I used to fly to different worlds
Painted by your magical words
I felt beautiful there, happy
And if I weren’t real, I would remain there

I used to dream of different futures
Populated by you and me
Built on our mutual support
But today needed me, called me back

Finding myself folded up in whispers
I rest weary and confused
Eager to hear your soothing voice
Speak louder than those inside my head

My words have helped you
At dark times when you needed my light
And now it is me that seeks the clarity
One word or one smile from you can bring

So into reality we bring
A special joint peace
One built on friendship
For all eternity

I like toffee. I think you do better poetry than you give yourself credit for. This was a lovely duet though.

  2. LOL TheOthers is right…you don’t give yourself the appropriate credit. This poem would have been nothing without your part. A true Gentleman I am lucky we are such great friends!

  3. You two are fantastic as always. Your poetry always warms my heart. Makes me wish I was better at writing…
