Choon Choosday: Madonna – Justify My Love

Madge is one of those artists that seem to blow hot and cold. She is either brilliantly innovative and ground-breaking or she is going through the motions and producing radio-friendly unit shifters. Overall though, the bravery she shows when she shows it puts her in my good books. Take JML for example – she makes a tune embracing and celebrating female sexuality and confidence, fills the video with eye candy of both sexes, and backs it all with hypnotically deep beats from Lenny Kravitz. All this at a time when the world was still reeling from the discovery of AIDS and wondering if we could ever have sex again. Madge declared that we can, and we can enjoy it if we want to, whatever our gender or the gender of our chosen partner. That, in my book, makes it a

  1. was just preparing a post for my 30 days of music challenge found a mix I hadn’t heard for ages and thought you would like it – turn up the stereo, glowsticks at the ready and go

  2. I grew up loving Madonna.

    • she’s a bit hot and cold for me, but this is great choon. And i can appreciate her importance as an artist and as a woman even if i dont like everything she has done
