If life deals you lemons… plant the pips and grow your own citrus family

10 April, 2013

Wow, it’s nearly a month since I posted pics of Larry’s new baby siblings. You won’t believe how much they’ve grown. Here are the girls:

From left to right, we have Loretta, Lorna, and the twins Lorraine and Laura. They are genuinely twins you know, they are from the same seed. I assumed I had planted two seeds too close, and GAW offered to untangle and replant them for me. But when she dug into the compost she found they were actual real life twins. How cool is that?

The boys are a little slower developing:

That’s Larry Jr on the left. On the right we have Larry Jr Jr, an addition to the family so recent that I haven’t had time to make a little name badge yet. And…  hang on… if you look closely you will see that Larry Jr Jr has a twin aswell! Larry Jr Jr Jr! Or Larry 3J as I have started to call him.

In all the excitement I didn’t take a pic of Larry himself, I will have to put that right soon. He is growing taller by the day, and even has a couple of side shoots on his trunk. He is maturing from a seedling to a baby tree!

In all, I planted about a dozen seeds so there may still be more littl’uns still to come. And if there are, I’ll post pics like the proud Dad that I am.
