I am a DIY master

22 May, 2013

You may recall how the other week I took on the challenge of rebuilding the wooden structure around the floral border on my allotment, and how this was an epic success for me. I am officially the world’s worst DIYer, the usual method I employ is DIMBIL (ie get my brother-in-law to do it)  but making a decent fist of the border has empowered me.

Last month’s effort was just the first stage in a lengthy rebuilding process. The border is in three sections, it has two sets of wooden steps which need to be rebuilt, and the wood around the seperate beds on the plot all needs replacing and the beds resizing. So over the last two days I have stopped off on the way home from work and in a little over three hours total, the second section of the border is now done. Annoyingly I forgot to take pics though.

And I have enough wood left over to replace the some of the steps and – get this – redesign their structure to make them more sturdy. That’s right, not only am I DIYing, I am improving the work that was there before. Never mind writing, I reckon I will soon be running my own handyman business!
