Overheard 2

30 May, 2013

I’ve mentioned before the things that get said in our office that make me shake my head with despair but at the same time reach for my pen. There was a dispute today over whether one of the team was allowed to take some holiday she had requested. The details, and the fact she booked the flights before she had cleared the leave are neither here nor there. But I had to share this exchange with you:

Girl “I can’t work on the Sunday, it’s my birthday.”

Boss “OK, well can you do the Saturday?”

Girl “Ummm, I’ll check. What’s the date?”

You couldn’t write this stuff, but you can write it down.

  1. probably not her birthday… and if so, totally a blond joke.

    • Hi BPM! you know it never occurred to me that she might have been lying about the birthday, but she doesn’t seem bright enough to have invented it, and people in our office are pretty damn hot on birthdays (cards go round daily for everyone to sign!)
I’m going with it being true, but part of me would be hugely impressed if it isn’t 🙂

      • LOL, that is a bit sad… doesn’t say much for the intelligence of this person for sure. 🙂

  2. i’m with BPM, she’s a birthday-liar 😀
