Choon Choosday: Brunnhilde’s Immolation Scene from Gotterdammerung
Another break from the normal Choons this week. This is from a 1994 Prom concert at the Albert Hall, with Anne Evans singing Soprano with the BBC Orchestra of Wales. I doubt any of you will listen to the full 20 minutes of this, and if you dont then at least skip to 15:00 and I guarantee you will be in tears with me by the end. The power of the finale and the perfection of that final chord get to me every time. Oh, and by the way, just like this Bjork choon, I was at this gig.
Choooonnn!
Ok I admit it, I didn’t listen to the entire thing and did skip around a bit but I love this kinda stuff- I tend to like any category of music as long as it’s good. Just out of curiosity, have you heard any of the Freddie Mercury/Montserrat Caballé, stuff? You probably heard ‘Barcelona’ (?, or do I just assume everyone in the world loves Freddie Mercury as much as I do?)
i wouldnt say i love Freddie Mercury, but I do know “Barcelona”
that’s good enough for me (now i have that song going thru my head) 😀
Haha youll be stuck with that all night now!
well it’s got a rival because I’ve also got the whole damn Erotica album playing too now after spending half the day on the phone with my friend talking about the old days- geez, my muse is due for another visit i’m afraid :O
ahhhh the good old days! when summers were longer and hotter, and mars bars were bigger. probably
