It’s not because I’m British and The Beatles are part of our national cultural consciousness. It’s not because they were and still are the most influential band of the last fifty-odd years. It’s not the exuberant energy of a band that weren’t even at the top of their game yet but were still throwing down classics. It’s not that extended “miii-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine” in the middle eight. It’s not that it’s the best thing they made (it isn’t). Nope, for me it’s McCartney’s counting in and the fact that this opens their first album, that’s what makes this a

  1. all your ‘nots’ are reasons enough to love the hell out of this song, (except for the being British part because you know, American girl and all that so I can only wish I was British) but oh man I love this song!!! I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard a few local bands covering this song, that guitar sound! those vocals! you can not hear that song and remain in a bad mood, i’m smiling hard right now and I even did the twist for a moment there,lol, thanks for posting this song, it brings me nothing but the happy and I can’t stop hearing it now 😀
