Choon Choosday: Spiritualized – I Think I’m In Love

This is a bit of an epic choon, over 8 minutes long, but as we approach Christmas and work/life (hopefully) starts to slow down a bit, maybe you have time to listen to the whole thing.

Musically this is quite deep, lots going on, lots of contrasting and complimenting parts, but for me it’s all about the lyrics. The first part is all about drugs and the highs/lows that come with them, then the second part is an internal debate. I always used to hear this as a contrast between what the drugs made him think he was, contrasted with the very different reality. I expect this was the intended meaning, but I have since read this from the perspective of mental/emotional issues and the internal debate that this creates. We make an effort to be the life and soul sometimes, but that voice tries to drag us down.
