Friday Fictioneers – Beach

10 January, 2014

Hello Frificers everywhere! My usual thanks to Rochelle for providing this week’s prompt:

precede the 100 words my head supplied in response:

“If you build it they will come,” she told me, “believe in your dreams.”

So, at one end of a beautiful cove where holidaymakers and locals alike enjoyed the sun, I built the cabin Beach Bar I had always dreamed of owning. It was pink, it was picturesque, it was summer, it was sunny. But they didn’t come.

I shouldn’t have believed in my dreams, I should have woken up.

Did she really believe in me? Did she believe that Beach Bar would ever work? Or did she just believe in the £75,000 I paid to the builder, her brother?

  1. Damn… That didn’t go as planned at all. Nicely done. 🙂

  2. I think she believed something about him… Nice one.

  3. Yikes! Her brother could use a few carpentry lessons. HA! Original take on the picture.

  4. Your story made me chuckle. Believe in your dreams!

  5. Hmmm…he should have checked into the brother’s contracting license 😉

  6. Dear RG,

I think she believed that a sucker’s born every minute. Good one.

  7. Dear TRG,

Whatever she believes in, she’s doing it on another beach with a drink in her hand and an umbrella over her pretty head. Good job.

  8. I hate these people who encourage us to dream and then crush them and blow the dust in our eyes. By the time we recover we can’t help but wonder “What happened? Where did he/she go?”
    Innocence is underrated.

  9. (sneaks in, in the guise of an innocent comment…shhh!)

Well I don’t care who believed what, -I- believe I want that little whatever-it-is building! Funny, and awesome as usual, TRG. *hugs*

By the way, speaking of awesome…it’s time for you to once more don the cloak of BOSS, cause FR #53 is done-da-done-done…DONE!!

  10. All I know is I would love to live there! It would be an awesome place to hole up after an apocalypse 😀
