Thursday Thrictioneers – Mechanic

20 November, 2014

Every week, Rochelle sends a prompt pic to a crack international squadron of writers. Pens, pencils, keyboards and tablet screens then scratch, scribble and tippytap 100 words of fiction. Welcome to the world of Friday Fictioneers!

I am away this weekend so in response to this week’s pic:

I am posting my 100 words a day early. Here they are:

The garage has been shut for a few weeks; I miss the “Good Morning” from the mechanic as I walk past on the way to work. That friendly wave means a lot and when I need work done, I always take my car there for him to repair. He’s quick, he’s cheap, and he even points out if I need a new exhaust or a tyre replaced.

I asked the newsagent next door if he’s on holiday. No, he said, he’s been shut down. He sold too many people parts they didn’t need. From his brother’s tyre and exhaust business.

  1. Ha! They shut you down for that? Apple must be closing shop any day now! Funny story.

  2. Oops. Sounds like he was lucky to get away with it for so long.
