Okay, fun’s over…

18 January, 2015

I picked up my new laptop on Friday, and this morning I finally had time to switch it on for the first time and go through the Windows 8 set up process. All that is done now, office and, importantly and specifically, Word are loaded on. The working files for the WIP that was interrupted in August are uploaded.

It’s been a fairly productive 5 months without doing any writing – I’ve got a bit of reading done, I’ve watched a few DVDs, I’ve done a few projects on the allotment. But the pissing about stops now. The next step on my To Do List starts now. Write. Innovate. Create the publishable novel that I know have in me and will be the first of many.

The slight downside is that I spent a long time last year coming up with the ideal name for the main character in my WIP – Carrington Sloane – and yesterday I googled it. There is some sort of business consultancy (to be honest I couldn’t really work out from their website what they do) in New Zealand with the same name. I am incredibly reluctant to change my character’s name as suits him perfectly, and having had him living in my head for a while I can’t think of him being called anything else. But this is a problem to be addressed another day, possibly never. Right now, I have a book to write.

  1. On to the writing, my friend!

  2. couldn’t you just start his first name with a K rather than a C? Would basically be the same name without duplication

    • That’s a great idea! But sadly for reasons I can’t give away it has to be a C. I’m trying out alternatives in my head and trying to find one that fits
