Choon Choosday: Sinead O’Connor – Jackie

I know she has had her moments of controversy and she isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but I think Sinead O’Connor is an extraordinary talent. This is the opening track from her debut album, and it pretty much tells you who she is and what she is about from the very start. She has a stunning, powerful, emotive voice and writes songs which are both lyrically and musically full. Maybe she had been watching The French Lieutenant’s Woman when she wrote this, I don’t know.
