Friday Fictioneers – Flowers

22 May, 2015

Ah, that Friday FriFic feeling, especially nice this week as we have a holiday weekend in England and I have the whole of next week off work. Luverlee! Here is the prompt pic that Rochelle sent out this week:

and my 100 words are these oneses….

Garden flowers look so pretty. But that doesnโ€™t happen by itself, itโ€™s thanks to my hardworking Architectural Development Team.

We stretch the green shoots a fraction every day, gently coax the buds, and finally comes what we professionals call Finessing – attaching the countless petals with their individual delicate dashes of scented colour.

When the flowers are complete, the Daily Maintenance Team takes charge over Summer – opening and closing petals, applying dew, directing bees – until responsibility passes to the Autumn Tinting Teams.

Itโ€™s a year-round effort.

So next time you admire garden flowers โ€“ remember to thank the elves.

  1. Smiling. So Mother Nature has little helpers, eh? And I thought she worked tirelessly on her own!

  2. The elves have been hard at work at my house. Flowers blooming everywhere! They could pull back on making the grass grow, though. We have a holiday weekend here in the States too, honoring those brave souls who have and do protect our country!
Delightful little story. Enjoy your holiday!

  3. Had I known, I would have thanked the Architectural Development Team over and over. Thank you for bringing them to my attention. Happy Holiday! Enjoy your week off.

  4. Delightful. We’re just sinking into winter, so I’m jealoous, and already hankering for the elves to start doing their stuff.

  5. Love those hard-working and organizationally-minded elves.
Wish there were more of them to take the same interest in creating a more beautiful world. Randy

  6. Oh love it! Those clever elves!

  7. I will never look at my garden the same. And, I was vain enough to think it was my tender caring!

  8. That was wonderfully whimsical, RG I bet Jack Frost belongs to one of the branches. Well done. ๐Ÿ™‚ — Suzanne
