Choon Choosday: Beck – Lord Only Knows

Beck Hansen is one of those artists that covers a few different bases in his music. He first came to the world’s attention with “Loser” which was a kind of hip hop blues effort. Since then he has wandered through pop, electronica, folk, blues, country… you name it. This tune comes from his album Odelay, and it’s my favourite of his. Don’t let the screamy intro put you off, it soon settles down to a wonderfully lazy blues/country number with Beck’s liquid vocals and trademark nonsensical lyrics (well I never know what he’s singing about anyway)

And how could any song that ends with a lyric of Odelay! Odelay! not be a
