Choon Choosday: The KLF – Burn The Bastards

I’ve mentioned a few times how much I love the work of The KLF. This is one of my favourite tracks of theirs, although technically it is credited to their JAMs alias and has also been called Burn The Beat. Hey, that’s Bill and Jimmy, alot of what they say and do is grey areas.

Indeed, much of their music was created by, in various ways, stealing reinventing the works of other artists and this got them in enormous legal trouble in the early days, but as they reached the end of their JAMs journey and began to rebirth as The KLF they paid more attention to the law. This particular track – essentially a cover of Dance to the Music by Sly & The Family Stone – had all the necessary clearances to be a legitimate release.

There is also an extended New Years Eve bit at the end which gives me a good excuse to select it as 2015 draws to a close, 28 years on from King Boy D shouting “1987 – what the fuck have we done?”
