An acoustic cover of NWA? Why yes, here you are.

I love this, it is so far removed from the original but it completely works. When a bunch of us sit round the firepit in the summer this always gets an airing and it’s a huge favourite. A couple of us performed this at an open mic in the pub once. We had just nailed Karma Police and the crowd were lapping us up, then we played this and it was met with perfunctory, stilted applausette. But then my voice doesn’t have the charm of Nina Gordon’s so we could never match her cover of such a


Oh and i should warn you, NSFW due to naughty words including the N one. But what else would you expect from NWA?

  1. You would think butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth! So strange when words more suitable to rap, gets sung in such a sweet voice in a smooth melody. Would love to have seen you perform this at an open-mic. Was this at Mettricks?

    • It’s a great version anyway, made better by the contrast to the original.
      we havent done an open mic for a while but we did a few at the talking heads. they are a very forgiving crowd 🙂
