Choon Choosday: Jill Scott – Gettin In The Way

Ah, a gorgeous slow number from more years ago than seems possible. I absolutely love this. Jill’s voice  is so smooth like the audio equivalent of running your fingers on velvet, but the bile and the anger in the threats she dishes out to her rival are both funny and fierce. And let’s not forget the angelic voices of the backing singers backing her up with their “you’d better back down before you get smacked down” too.

Some very nice production on this one, just enough to keep the tune moving along but understated enough to not detract from the wonderful vocal.

Oh, and of course the video too. Hilarious, especially the little lad getting his chair to watch the action. Top drawer.
