Choon Choosday: Dennis Alcapone – Cassius Clay

There have been thousands of column inches and millions of words written these last few days about Ali. He was a true great who influence spread far beyond the ropes and his sport; an intelligent and charismatic man who was in many ways the spokesman for a generation. I’m not really a fan of boxing, but even I can see that he deserved his self-declared title that he was”The Greatest”.

So in my tiny and insignificant corner of the internet here is my tribute to a unique man. Plus, it just happens to be a

  1. What a guy! Have you seen the footage of Ali in Hedge End? It can be found on the South Today site. I remember his fights with Henry Cooper most of all. Such a lovely tribute – I can remember dancing to this at the West Indian Club in St Mary’s (which was on the site of the church I was Christened in).
