Choon Choosday: The Housemartins – Happy Hour

23 August, 2016

Oooooh, don’t they look young? Yes, it’s time for a trip down memory lane with this little corker. So often a band never matches the quality of their first album and first single, and thus it was with The Housemartins. Don’t get me wrong, they were a tidy four piece, but this is such an epic pop song and such a brilliant video that they set the bar unreachably high right at the start.

Absolute choooooooooooooooon!

  1. I agree with you entirely there were so many one-minute wonders – such an epic British track. I have never seen the video before so it was a treat. It was a return to men doing happy dancing – not seen since Motown. This is how I remember pubs – sadly they are closing every day.

    • Everyone loves this tune, and everyone of the same vintage as me nows every word of the lyrics!
You’re right, too many pubs closing nowadays, all to become flats or Tesco 😦

And the classic lineup with Hugh on the drums…
