Choon Choosday: Asa Chang & Junray – Tsuginepu to Ittemata

20 September, 2016

Something a bit different this week. I know very little about Asa Chang & Junray other than he/they are Japanese and play experimental percussion and electronic music. I discovered them back in 2003 when a late night show somewhere played Toremoro – an extraordinary piece that sampled the doors on the Starship Enterprise backed with birdsong and flute before exploding into percussion and bombasitic electronic chords.

Sadly (and strangely) I couldn’t find it on YouTube, so instead I offer you the track that follows Toremoro on the Tsu Gi Ne Pu ep. Much more relaxing and a bit more accessible even, but still an absolute

  1. That’s enlightening. I found the continual high pitch a bit infuriating, but liked listening to the voice. Loved the dancing though.
