Choon Choosday: Blur – Coffee and TV

It’s hard to believe that I have been linking choons every Tuesday for more than four years, but have never featured Blur. Although they were quite poppy in their earlier days (“There’s No Other Way”, anyone?) and went through a chart-friendly phase during the Battle of Britpop, their music matured over time, and Damon Albarn is widely respected as one of the country’s most talented musicians.

I could have chosen one of dozens of tracks but I’ve gone for this one from the “13” album. I don’t know enough about music and chord structure to understand why, but I really like the changes, they always sound melancholy to me. And of course, despite me extolling Albarn above, this is written and sung by Graham Coxon.

  1. I was living abroad while the Brit Pack were at the top of their game – so thoroughly enjoy catching up. Not many memories of Blur as much as Pulp or Oasis, but loved this and great video to go with it – thanks. Sol
