Choon Choosday: The Farm – All Together Now

20 December, 2016

You can keep your Slade and your Roy Wood, your Mariah Carey and even your John and Yoko. There are very few Christmas tunes that are also decent songs in their own right, but All Together Now is one of them.

It is impossible for us to imagine the multi-layered horrors of the first world war, and of trench warfare. This song pays tribute to those who, at Christmas 1914, laid down their arms for a day and embraced the humanity of those who were supposed to be their enemy. I don’t usually post fan vids or those with lyrics, but this song merits it.

Happy Christmas everyone

  1. And they thought it would all be over by Christmas! Very moving – my heart aches when I see the images of “going over the top” – but they are right – there will always be wars interspersed with times of peace. Merry Christmas TRC – Sol

    • Hi SOL, thanks for reading. And not forgetting the way whole villages of boys enrolled together, seeing it as an adventure. How little they knew.
      Merry Christmas to you too!
