Choon Choosday: Laura Marling – New Romantic

It’s another one of those tunes this week that I had forgotten about for a few years and was then reminded of and thought “Oooh, I must link this on Choosday.”

According to Wikipedia she is from Hampshire, the county that I call home, although admittedly it’s far north Hampshire in the very posh bit. Geography aside, this is a beautiful folky number with intelligent bitter-sweet lyrics and a simple but witty video. And don’t you just wish you could play guitar this well? And write such wise lyrics at the age of seventeen? All of that, combined with a gorgeous soft-as-velvet-chocolate vocal make this a

  1. This is a lovely “British” folk choon. Honest and melodic without that trendy nasal trait. I see that this was made in 2007 – wonder what she is doing now?
    P.S I have used up all my space – which is just as well as I am packing for real now – will take a break from blogging but will still be reading my follow lists. Happy New Year – Sol
