Friday Fictioneers – Dinner

14 April, 2017

Well it may be Easter weekend and a time of celebration and family get-togethers, not to mention a few days off work for many, but that doesn’t mean FriFic is taking a break. No sirree Jiminy Bob, the Good Ship FF sails on, and Cap’n Rochelle‘s email arrived this week regular as clockwork, bearing this week’s pic

courtesy of Dale Rogerson.

Make your way over to Frog Island where everyone is wearing bunny ears, eating Simnel Cake and having an egg hunt. And they’re sharing their 100 words too.

Mine follow, and I should point out it’s all fiction. No offence is intended to Dale’s local pizzaria or wine emporium 🙂

“I haven’t got much money,” he said, “how about a bottle of wine and a pizza? The place near me is unbeatable.”

Of course; it’s him I wanted to know better, not a restaurant.

But he thinks these pizzas are the best? It’s overcooked, overstacked with cheese. And I’m no wine snob but this is cheap, lifeless. What am I doing here?

“What are you thinking?” he asks.

Erm…

“Cause I’m thinking this pizza is shit. And this wine…” He takes my plate and glass. “I’m sorry. I’ll make some Earl Grey and cook something edible.”
I smile. “Good idea.”

  1. Dear RG,

Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
No Simnel Cake here as Easter coincides with Passover and the Feast of Unleavened bread. As for holidays…every day is a holiday on the Good Ship FF. 😉
    Good story.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. Last minute save. How can you get pizza wrong though?!

  3. He’s perceptive. They may have a future together!

  4. Life Lessons of a Dog Lover permalink

Ah, what a considerate gentleman. Good take on the prompt.

  5. Sounds like they are both of the same mind and able to tell each other, so after a shaky start this should turn out OK

  6. I was worried for him there for a minute but he saved it. Sounds like they are a match. Great story!

  7. Whew! Saved by Earl Grey! Anything goes with that.

  8. Saved from having to say anything negative… Ain’t it grand when that happens?

  9. To cite an old cliche… Honesty is the best policy.

  10. Oooo.. a fellow that can read her mind. That’s a good start.
