Friday Fictioneers – Warehouse

29 September, 2017

I love the challenge of FriFic that Rochelle sets us each week, and the way every picture is so very different. Take this one from J Hardy Carroll:

Not a rolling green landscape or a cutesy animal portrait, but still a nicely taken pic and full of life and intrigue. So this week was one of those occasions when my 100 words arrived almost preformed. A snip of a word here and there to hit the wordcount and it was done!

Don’t forget to take the ferry to Froggy Island to read everyone’s Fics.

My words are these:

Two figures, in newly-bought hoodies and trainers, stepped from the skateboards they had purchased that morning. One shone his phone’s light on the chainlink fence, the other deftly severed the links. With a look over their shoulders, they entered the yard, approached the empty warehouse, cracked open the door.

The next day, a man in suit and tie called the property agent. “I saw that little warehouse fire on the news,” he said, “could’ve been worse, lucky the fire brigade got that early call. So you’ll be dropping the rent on that place then? Let me make you an offer…”

  4. Sneaky, I wonder if an inquisitive insurance agent will pry enough to upset his plans.

  5. Dear TRG,

I suppose you could call him ‘resourceful.’

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  6. Oh, there’s some nice intrigue written between the lines here. Good story — bad deed.🙂
