Friday Fictioneers – Apartment

14 February, 2019

Yes I know, I make all these promises to you and to myself about FriFicing every week but it’s all empty words. Typical bloke. I have got an excuse though – I’ve been busy with work, was away last weekend, and I’ve just got a new hamster and she is taking up loads of my time. In fact she is watching me as I type this, making me feel guilty that I’m not playing with her, so I’ll make this quick.

Rochelle sent J Hardy Carroll‘s pic:

and we all write 100 words and share them on Froggy Island.

My words are below.

Right gotta go, I need to cuddle my little girl

Since moving into town I had coveted these apartments. I would pause my daily walk to work and study the sandstone brickwork, envying those who lived behind the leadlight windows in stone frames.

One morning my admiration was interrupted by a polite cough. Behind me was a man carrying a wooden sign. “Scuse me,” he said, “need to put this up,”

I stepped aside, read his notice and reached for my phone, dialling the digits he was about to display.

“Good morning,” I said as my call was answered, “it’s about the apartment you’re about to put on the market…”

  7. I’m happy for him. He sounds like someone who doesn’t often experience such good luck. Nicely told.

  9. Dear RG,

Talk about impeccable timing. Nicely done.

HM the Frog Queen. (Hope you like my story. 😉 )

  10. gahlearner permalink

Fun story, lucky guy and great timing. About your intro: I’m not a bloke, but I have the same excuses–except for the Hamster. 🙂

  11. The stars have aligned, it’s fate your character gets to live in the sandstone building they’ve always admired. Nicely done! We’ve had a number of hamsters over the years and they all loved those wheels you put in the cage and the plastic balls they roll around in on the floor. Might give you time to write without feeling guilty. =)

  12. A serendipituous coincidence 🙂

  13. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
